Credits and plans
Credits measure the work Sands does for you. Every plan includes every feature and every connection; plans differ only in how many credits they carry.
What a credit is
Each task uses the credits its work took: reading your tools, reasoning, searching the web, writing a plan. There is no fixed price per task, and you only use credits while Sands is working for you. A quick question uses a few; building a full plan from a long brief uses more.
- A reply in conversation
- Typical credits (estimates): About 3 to 10
- A lookup or small change in a connected tool
- Typical credits (estimates): About 20 to 30. The first one after an hour without tool use can reach about 65, because Sands reloads its working instructions.
- A change to a plan
- Typical credits (estimates): About 30
- Building a plan
- Typical credits (estimates): About 60
- Any single task, at most
- Typical credits (estimates): 200. If a task costs more, Sands covers the difference.
These are typical figures, not prices. The same request can use more or less depending on how much Sands reads and how long its answer is. What a task actually used is shown in Settings → Usage.
Before a request runs, Sands checks your balance covers a typical cost for it.
Plans
| Plan | Price | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0, no card | 500 credits, one time. They do not expire while you are on Free. |
| Pro | $29 a month | 3,000 credits every month. They refresh each billing period and do not roll over. |
| Enterprise | Talk to us | Custom credit allowances and team plans. |
Plans are per person: each account has its own credits and its own connections. When you upgrade, Pro's allowance replaces any free credits left, so every Pro month starts with exactly its allowance.
Bonus credits
Credits outside your plan, such as a promotional or goodwill grant, show separately as bonus credits. They are not part of your plan allowance, and Sands uses your plan credits first.
When credits are not used
- A request your balance cannot cover. Sands runs nothing and charges nothing.
- A request you stop before Sands replies or uses a tool.
- A request that fails because of a problem on Sands' side.
Running out
When your balance cannot cover a request, your message stays in the chat with one card explaining why. On Free, the card offers Upgrade to Pro. On Pro, it tells you when your credits refresh. A request that spends your last credits finishes what it can and shows the card under its work.
No surprise bills
Your balance never goes below zero and there are no overage charges. Sands stops starting new work until your credits refresh or you upgrade.
Seeing your usage
Settings → Usage shows your balance, when it resets, and a daily chart. Switch between This period, Previous periods and All time. The breakdown shows where credits went:
- Apps and tools: Jira, Slack, web search, plans and the operations inside each.
- Models: which AI models did the work.
- Conversations: which chats used the most.
Requests you make in Slack use the same credits and appear in the same view.
Billing
Upgrading
Upgrade from the credits card, the account menu's Upgrade plan, or Settings → Plan & billing. Checkout is handled by Stripe. When it completes you land back where you started, and your Pro credits are ready once payment is confirmed.
Cancelling and resuming
In Settings → Plan & billing, choose Cancel plan and Pro stays active to the end of the period you paid for, with that period's credits. Choose Resume any time before then. Your chats, plans and connections stay where they are after Pro ends.
Payment methods and invoices
Manage billing in Plan & billing opens the Stripe billing portal, where you can change your card and download invoices.
