Setup
Start the connection
Click + in the composer and choose Asana, or open Settings → Connectors.
Approve in Asana
Asana's sign-in opens in a pop-up. Approve access to your workspace.
Permissions
- Sands acts as you, with your Asana permissions. It cannot see or change anything you cannot.
- Your token is stored encrypted against your Sands account. Sands never sees your password.
- Disconnect from Settings → Connectors, or revoke access from Asana's settings.
Good to know
- Asana tasks are complete or incomplete. Sands does not invent in-between states.
- Filtered searches across a workspace, like everything assigned to someone, need a paid Asana plan. On a free workspace Sands tells you instead of returning a partial answer; asking about one project still works.
- Owners, priorities, estimates and dependencies in a plan stay in Sands when you send it.
See Sending and exporting for the full mapping.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Sands asks you to reconnect | Asana access expired. Click Reconnect; the request resumes. |
| A search says it needs a paid plan | Filtered searches across the workspace need a paid Asana plan. Ask about one project instead. |
| A project is missing | Check the workspace you approved, and that your Asana account can see the project. |
