Sands in Slack

Ask Sands from Slack. Mention @Sands in a channel or message it directly, and it answers in the thread with your connected tools.

Before you start

The Sands app must be installed in your workspace and your Slack account linked to Sands. Both take a minute from Settings → Apps → Slack; see Slack. If you mention @Sands before linking, Sands replies with a link to finish setup.

Asking Sands

  • In a channel: mention @Sands with your request. Sands must be a member of the channel.
  • In a direct message: message the Sands app. No mention needed.
  • In a thread: once Sands has replied, keep talking in the thread without mentioning it again.

Try asking

@Sands where are we on the checkout project?

Try asking

@Sands create a ticket in WEB for the broken coupon field and assign it to me

Sands shows its progress in the thread and posts the answer there. Reports, lists and changes come back as Slack messages with links to the items in your tools.

Whose tools and credits

A request in Slack runs as the person who sent it: their connected Jira, Linear or Asana, their approval mode, and their credits. Two people in the same thread each work with their own access.

Approvals in Slack

Your approval mode applies in Slack too. When a change pauses, Sands asks in the thread and waits for you. Only the person who asked can approve their change.

Changes from Slack follow the same rules

Sands only carries out changes you asked for, on items it can identify, once. See Approvals.
