Get started

Quickstart

From sign-up to a plan in your project tool. Budget about ten minutes, most of it reading what Sands hands back.

Your first plan

  1. Create your account

Sign up with your email or with Google. If you have an invite link, open it first: it signs you up with your free credits ready. Every account starts with 500 free credits and no card.

  2. Connect a project tool

Click + in the composer and pick Jira, Linear or Asana, or open Settings → Connectors. Approve the sign-in with the tool and you are back in Sands in about a minute.

You can skip this. Sands drafts plans without a connection, and asks you to connect when a request needs your tool.

  3. Ask for a plan

Paste a client brief or describe the project in a sentence or two. Name the team, the dates and anything fixed; Sands plans around what you tell it.

    Try asking

Plan a two-week sprint, Oct 5 to Oct 16, to add gift wrapping to our Shopify checkout. Team: Ana (senior engineer), Ben (engineer, out Oct 9), June (QA). Marketing must approve the copy by Oct 14.

The plan opens in a drawer beside the chat and fills in as Sands writes it: the goal, capacity, the workstreams, a ticket table with owners and due dates, risks, key dates and open questions.

  4. Make it yours

Edit the plan like a document, or ask in chat: “Assign the QA tickets to June”, “Move the start to Oct 7”. Sands shows each change in the document as it makes it.

  5. Send it

Click Send to and pick your tool. Sands shows how the plan maps to it and what it will create. Confirm, and it creates the work and lists every item with a link.

Sending twice is safe

Sands remembers what each plan already created. A repeat send never creates duplicates.

Pick an approval mode

The control next to + in the composer sets when Sands asks before changing your tools. The default, Automatically approve, carries out ordinary changes you ask for and pauses for riskier ones, like creating a project or sending a whole plan. Choose Manually approve to review every change. See Approvals.
