Capabilities / Plans
Editing the document
The plan drawer is a document editor. Every line is editable, and your changes save on their own.
The plan drawer
A plan opens in a drawer beside the chat. Drag its edge to resize it, or use the expand button to give it the whole window. Close it and reopen the plan from its card in the chat, from Artifacts, or from the address bar.
The top bar holds the plan's title menu, Send to, expand and close. Click the title for Export, Copy as Markdown, Rename, Duplicate, Undo last Sands edit and Delete plan.
Typing and saving
Click anywhere and type. Changes save a moment after you stop typing. If a save fails, the top bar shows Couldn't save with Retry; your text stays on screen until it saves.
- Start a line with #, ## or ### and a space for a heading.
- Type @ to mention a person.
- Press Enter at the end of the title to start a new section below it.
- Press Backspace at the start of a heading to merge that section into the one above.
The / menu
Type / on an empty line to insert a block. Keep typing to filter the list. Inside a table cell or a section Sands builds from the plan, like the ticket table, the menu offers only what fits there.
| Group | Blocks |
|---|---|
| Text | Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Quote |
| Lists | Bulleted list, Numbered list, Checklist |
| Insert | Table, Dropdown, Date, Mention, Image, Divider, Code block |
Images can be a link or an upload. Hover a table for Add row and Add column. Tables, images, code blocks and dividers show a handle on hover for Delete, Duplicate, Move up and Move down; drag the handle to move the block.
The ticket table
Every cell in the ticket table is editable text. Priority, owner and due date also open a picker when you click them: a priority list, the team, or a calendar. Hover the table for Add row to add a ticket in the last row's workstream. Wide tables scroll sideways inside the document.
Copying tickets
Select across table cells and copy to get a real table in Docs, Sheets, Excel or Notion. Use Send to → Backlog (CSV) for a file.
Sections
Add a section with Heading 2 from the / menu, rename any heading by typing over it, and delete a section by selecting it and deleting. Deleting the section that holds the ticket table deletes its tickets. ⌘ + Z brings a deleted section back whole, tickets included.
When you and Sands edit at once
If Sands changes the plan while you have unsaved edits, your edits to other parts are kept. When you both changed the same block, Sands holds your version and asks: Keep mine or Use Sands'.
Only your edits save
Opening, reading or scrolling a plan never saves anything. Only changes you make are written.
